Tétris designed and built the new office space for the premier men’s professional basketball league, reflecting the brand’s global look and feel.

Tétris acted on behalf of Nokia as the design and build consultants for the South African Nokia business. Visually striking with the bold use of the corporate identity, the interior has both a global feel with hints of local African flavour.
The main challenge was taking an already completed design and making the necessary changes and adaptations to deliver a successful project. The Tétris team collaborated with the Nokia EMEA brand services team and the local Nokia specialist team to ensure that the design and specifications aligned with the global corporate identity and standards. The design intent was progressively developed during the early stages of the project into a technically resolved design with a strong focus on quality, budget and timelines.
The African inspirations were developed into colourful, abstract representations of African elements. A thoughtful design emerged where every element bears its purpose creating an experience that reflects the Nokia brand: Pure, Alive, Principled.
Pure: Authentic materials and finishes were used with no exception to this rule, keeping in mind that an intentionally simple look and feel was key.
Alive: Colour was used sparingly to ensure a clean and honest space. The design was brought to life by introducing colour by means of Nokia photography in large scale printed acoustic panels and bold colourful geometric carpet patterns inside meeting rooms and phone rooms, acting as little gems hidden between acoustic partitioning. This trend was continued with vinyl decal designs on meeting room glazed panels.
Principled: A collaborative style was adopted, ensuring transparency throughout the design and build process. This is also present in the space planning, with break out areas encouraging the same behaviour in staff and visitors by means of design elements.
The new Nokia offices are agile, adaptive and diverse which once again refers back to the global Nokia requirements for their new office fit-outs. The focus is not just on the brand – emphasis is placed on people which was evident in all interactions with the Nokia team. It has inspired a design that was carefully considered and each element selected to ignite an emotion or experience.
